Local tech firms roll out GPS-based fleet system

January 25, 2010 – Monday

Two locally owned IT companies have combined their resources to
introduce what it said is the “most complete fleet management system
to the Philippine and South East Asian market.”

The new offering is a result of a “strategic tie-up” between IP
Converge Data Center and Geodata Systems Technologies. IP Converge is
the IT and telecommunications arm of local tech conglomerate IPVG
Corp. while Geodata is a Filipino-owned company specializing in
Geographic Information System (GIS) and mapping solutions.

Under the partnership, IP Converge brings together Convoy FMS and
Geodata’s ArcLogistics and Archibus to create a comprehensive and
end-to-end fleet management solution that “outperforms” existing fleet
management systems in the marketplace.

In 2007, a Filipino-owned technology firm, StarComm, unveiled a
similar fleet management tool for companies called 3rdEye. However, IP
Converge and Geodata insist that their new solution is far superior to
any product that has been launched in the market.

The GPS-based solution, officials said, is targeted at logistics or
companies that operate a fleet of at least 10 vehicles.

Rene Huergas, president of IP-Converge, said the fleet management
solution addresses the deficiencies of other fleet management systems
and work way beyond than just merely tracking vehicles.

January 12, 2010

Manila, Philippines -- IP e-Game Ventures Inc., the online game
subsidiary of IPVG Corp, announced the open beta testing phase of
Runes of Magic (ROM) its latest high-fantasy massively multiplayer
online role-playing that is set to define the local gaming norms.
ROM’s open beta test phase will start on January 8, with the servers
formally opening at exactly noon.

The OBT stage will have more areas opened for players to roam around
and explore. These areas are:
Howling Mountain
* Silverspring
* Aslan Valley
* Ystra Highland
* Sascilia Steppes
* Dragonfang Ridge

ROM will also open more Instanced Dungeons:

* Fungus Garden
* Cavern of Trails
* Barren Caves
* Windmill Basement
* Bloody Gallery
* Forsaken Abbey
* Ystra Labyrinth – Revivers’ Corridor
* Ystra Labyrinth – General’s Room
* Arcane Chamber of Sathkur
* Ruins of the Ice Dwarf Kingdom

Instanced Dungeons will allow gamers to have their own dungeon
adventures sharing it only with their parties and friends.

Players can capitalize on the increased number of available areas to
reach ROM’s character level cap, now set at 35.

But e-Games is giving players more reasons to play Runes of Magic as
it launches the ROM Gaming PC Raffle allowing gamers to win a brand
new, top-of-the-line gaming PC.

The mechanics are very simple. A player automatically receives a
raffle entry once his character reaches level 10. Then every after
five levels, the player will get more raffle entries. The in-game
promo will run from the January 8 to February 8.

In addition, the open beta test phase will also open the ROM item
shop. Players can expect to find important in-game items to be on hand
at the item shop, like the experience and skill potions that increase
the experience and skill acquisition of a character by 50 percent. The
ROM Item shop will also sell the Golden Repair Hammer that increases
the durability of an item and adds bonus attributes. Armors, weapons,
and crafting items will also be on sale at the item shop. Players will
also get to purchase mounts such as the Night Lion King, Flame
Wartiger, and Blood Ostrich. Mounts offer players, greater speeds
during their virtual travels.

“The CBT was a success because we were able to look deeper into the
product, identify and fix errors, and tweak the game to fit the
gamers’ taste. The players did their share and reported bugs during
gameplay. Their feedback is invaluable and has made the game even
better.” said Runes of Magic product manager Lee Corbilla. “With the
OBT, we want to firmly establish Runes of Magic as the game that
everyone must play.”

Corbilla also expects to grow the Runes of Magic community. He further
said that the community would play a vital role in the success of
Runes of Magic. Hence, Corbilla asks players to be active once the
online forum launches by creating their own factions, submitting fan
arts, and even their own in-game story.

“Runes of Magic will stay true to its tagline as the game that is
going to change the way we play online games,” VP for MMORPG Heidi
Mendita-Garayblas said. “Remember, this is just the OBT. The game has
many things that are still in store to rouse the players’ enthusiasm.”

Recently, Runes of Magic garnered almost all of the top awards in the
2009 Readers and Staff Choice Awards of Massively.com, a leading
online game review website. Among the plums that Runes of Magic won
were the Best Free-to-Play MMO, Overall Best New MMO, and Best
Capacity for Role-play.

Runes of Magic Philippines Full Preview

By Sir David

January 8, 2010 – Friday

Well, ladies and gents, magbubukas na ang Runes of Magic on January 8 for its Open Beta and its time for us to really see what all the hoopla is all about. Runes of Magic is brought to us by the good people at IP E-games Philippines and they have brought their heavyweights out of hiding for this particular title. Let’s find out exactly what Runes is.

Runes of Magic is a fantasy MMORPG set in the land of Taborea. Taborea is a fairly peaceful land filled with small villages, big cities (ang hirap nga maglakad sa cities eh… napakalaki), caves, dungeons, and many more locales you might expect in a standard MMORPG. Nothing fancy there, pretty much what you’d expect in a fantasy setting.

You pick a job that tickles your play style. There’s a backstabbing, hide in the shadows rogue. There’s a meat-shield knight. There’s a berserking I-will-kick-your-balls-or-die-trying warrior. Also there’s an abracadabra-your-ass-is-on-fayah mage. A hit-and-run drive (or ride) by expert scout. And to top things off, a “Mr. Pa Buffpls” priest. Standard stuff.

Road to Domination 4

By: Missy Silvestre
Game Magazine – Game Pg. 38 to 39
January 2010

What better way for e-Games to end the year with a bang than leave a
mark for its loyal gamers with the Road to Domination 4 (R2D4), held
on November 28, 2009, at the SMX Convention Center. R2D4 is e-Games’
kickoff event for Domination 4 which will be held in April 2010. As
early as 9 in the morning, attendees lined up outside the venue,
ecstatic about the jam-packed event and fun-filled activities that
await them. Along with X-Play, e-Games certainly did not disappoint.
There were new game releases, game updates, tournaments, freebies and
live performances throughout the day.

The culminating part of the event was the introduction of two new
games: one for the MMOCasual and the other for the MMORPG industry. Of
course, both are free to play. The event was the launch pad for
Dragonica, e-Games’ newest online 3D side-scrolling adventure game.
Gil Edeza, COO of e-games, expressed his excitement over the launch of
Dragonica in the country. “Dragonica has the potential for bringing
all kinds of gamers together in one game. Its easy-to-use interface
and gameplay system will appeal to casual gamers and first-time MMORPG
players, while the game’s RPG elements, combo system and PvP battles
will be attractive to weren’t enough to excite the crowd, X-Play
announced that it bagged the exclusive rights to operate the rhythm
game, Brand-Master, in the Philippines. In this game, players can
choose from six different instruments to play in battling with other
players, set up their own band, compose note charts and share them
online. The game will have local and international songs and the best
part is – it’s free. Compatible peripherals like guitars and such can
be used to let players jam their own way.
