New IT holding company Viridiem Signs Deal with Elchemi
IPVG and Lucid Multimedia Partner to Grow Creative BPO Market
Makati City, 23 January 2009 -- IPVG Corp. (PSE: IP) announces today the first phase of a major expansion of their IT business in the SE Asia region. This new initiative, VIRIDIEM, will provide information technology infrastructure and services to enterprises across Asia in the most ecologically sound way. The company intends to lead the thinking and the deployment of energy-efficient computing resources. The very name Viridiem, which loosely translates to ‘GreenDay” in Latin, highlights the company’s intent in this area. In preparation for this, IPVG is moving its IT assets into Viridiem, IPVG’s new holding company for all of its IT-related businesses. Today, the Executive Committee of IPVG’s Board of Directors approved the execution of the option and partnership agreements with Elchemi Assets (www.elchemigroup.com), to acquire at least 20% of the equity of Viridiem, based on a third-party valuation. The investment is expected to be completed by end of the first quarter 2009. An initial goodwill deposit in the amount of US$500,000 will be provided by Elchemi by the first week of February. Roger Stone, Deputy Chairman of IPVG and the CEO of Viridiem said, “It has been estimated that data centers worldwide consume in excess of 14 gigawatts of power; and produce as much carbon dioxide (CO2) as air traffic, but inefficiently, as just 1% of the power entering a data centre is actually converted to computing work output. Our initiative in Viridiem is to be first in the market with new efficient technologies and to lead the deployment of environmentally sound data centres”. The first project is the construction of a 10,000 square meter facility, due to be ready for operation at the start of Q3 2009. This will be the most modern tier 3+ purpose build data centre in SE Asia and will cater to the needs of corporations who take energy conservation seriously. Makati City, 20 January 2009 – IPVG Corp. (PSE: IP) today announced that it has entered a Subscription Agreement with Lucid Multimedia Tech, Inc. (Lucid) to mark the expansion of its BPO portfolio into the animation/digital industry.
PEZA accredits newest BPO venture of IPVG
As a new player in the field of animation, IPVG is acquiring a majority stake equivalent to fifty-one percent (51%) of the outstanding capital stock and management control of the 40-seater multimedia service provider. Lucid is a premier supplier of multimedia services in the Philippines providing high-end 3D, web and digital works ranging from modeling, animation and architectural renderings for local and multinational corporations. In the global entertainment/animation industry, the on-going contraction being experienced in the first world economies is pushing the need to drive costs downward. Companies are accelerating off-shoring of creative work to lower cost, high quality locations such as the Philippines. “Lucid is a profitable boutique animation company that has specialization in 3-D animation. It has good track record, established relationship with key client(s), and an operation which we believe we can scale up very quickly. Thus, we see Lucid as our launch pad and platform into the animation industry,” said Enrique Y. Gonzalez, CEO of IPVG Corp. Ditrie Y. Villacorta III, President of Lucid Multimedia Tech, Inc., said, “We are confident that our operational and domain expertise combined with IPVG’s global footprint and strength in business development will raise the bar in service and quality to a whole new level.” According to the Animation Council of the Philippines, Inc. (ACPI), Filipino animators were behind some of the world’s best-loved cartoons and animated films – Scooby Doo, Tom & Jerry, Addams Family, The Mask, The Jetsons, Dragon Ball Z, Captain Planet, Finding Nemo and The Incredibles – all under entertainment giants such as Walt Disney, Warner Brothers, Cartoon Network, HBO, Marvel Comics, Hanna Barbera and producers of Japanese anime. International gaming manufactures such as Nintendo, Sega, Game Gear, Game Boy and Sony Playstation have also contracted local animators to render graphics for their respective gaming platforms. The ACPI said in 2006, the industry earned about US$65 million in revenues, almost double the total revenues from animation exports in 2001 with the Philippine animation having 25% annual growth.
